Flame Con Hours: 12:00PM-6:00PM

Panel: 1:00PM in The Fancy Suite

Join the NCLA and SCLA Pop Culture Committees at FlameCon on Saturday, June 13th at the Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn for the program, Queering Comics for Kids featuring Valerie Acklin from Bellmore Memorial Library and Nola Thacker from Westhampton Free Library.

Join in the discussion of family-friendly, peer-positive comics and manga that appeal to diverse readers from 10-years-old to 100-years-young. This interactive book talk, highlighting popular titles and read-alikes as well as hidden gems, will also provide a variety of approaches for integrating materials into everyday reading routines – at home, in school, and beyond – in order to bring readers of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations together, while breaking down barriers and creating connections.
