Join Us for a Webinar hosted by the PR and Programming Division in the Nassau Library System Andrew Geddes Meeting Room . . .
Are you ready to gain 50 fresh program ideas for your adult patrons?
June 3rd
Andrew Geddes Meeting Room
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Themed events are popular throughout the year at libraries. In this workshop, library services and vintage cooking enthusiast Amy Alessio, will introduce you to 20 themes that you can use, including three or more program ideas per theme. While outside performers and groups are often necessary to hire to meet these themes, many of these topics can be addressed by staff run events.
By the end of this workshop, you will gain more than 50 fresh program ideas for adults and gain resources for further inspiration and development. At least three program suggestions will be given for the following subjects:
- Artistic Adventures
- Creatures
- Decades: WWI, WWII, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s
- Food
- Hollywood Comes to the Library
- Horror-ible Ideas
- Humor
- Making Things Fun
- Money Smart
- Mysterious Events
- Out of This World Programs: Space and Futuristic
- Sports, or Olympic Year Events
- Steampunk
- Superhero Staff
- Technology Tie-Ins
- World of Ideas
Amy Alessio has enjoyed the input of teens for over 19 years as an award winning teen librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library in Illinois. She is the author of “Mind-Bending Mysteries and Thrillers for Teens: A Programming and Readers’ Guide” and a co-author of “A Year of Programs for Millennials and More.” She has a BS in Criminology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MLIS from Dominican University.
