Sunday, June 14 at the Cradle of Aviation, Garden City, NY

Eternal Con Sunday Hours: 10:00AM-5:00PM

Panel: 1:00PM in Panel Room #1

Comic books and pop culture media have a long history of battling censorship. Even in 2015, three of the top ten most frequently challenged and banned books in the United States include three graphic novels (Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Saga by Brian K. Vaughan, and Drama by Raina Telgemeier). This panel will discuss both the history of censorship as well as recent instances of censorship as related to comic books, graphic novels, film, video games, and other pop culture media. This program is sponsored by the Nassau County Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee and the Nassau County Library Association’s Pop Culture Committee.
