Geek Out: The Importance of Pop Culture in Libraries Event Flyer.

2015 participant in ALA’s Emerging Leaders Class, lifelong geek, librarian, and pop culture and arts writer, Ivy Noelle Weir will discuss the ways in which librarians can use pop culture to bring teens into their libraries, based on her own successful experiences as a Young Adult Services Coordinator. Ideas presented will include establishing relationships with brick and mortar comic book shops, improving Graphic Novel collections and making them more browser-friendly, hosting movie screenings and comic-book creation workshops, and running your very own Library Comic Convention.
