The NCLA Media Services & PR/Programming Divisions are co-sponsoring a Zoom program – GTX Film Festival & How It Went Virtual

The NCLA Media Services & PR/Programming Divisions are co-sponsoring a Zoom program – GTX Film Festival & How It Went Virtual” on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from 10 am-11:30 am.
We are very excited to have Executive Director Cindy Weigand speak to us from Georgetown, Texas, about how she established the film festival in 2016, how GTX recruits film makers to submit their work, how the films are judged, and all the ins and outs of running the festival.
This year’s festival had to be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Weigand will highlight some of the winners in different film categories that were honored by the GTX Film Festival, showing film clips or clips from panels.
The documentary award winner was “Heads-Up: Will They Stop Making Cents?,”a fascinating movie about the lowly penny, and one of the shorts was filmed on an iPhone11 with Filmic Pro and the DJI Osmo2 and an old Canon Rebel 5 Ti with a DJI Ronin-S!
All registrants will receive a list of contact information for film makers who are willing to have libraries show their films and who may be available to participate in Zoom film discussion programs for free or for a minimal charge.
Program is recommended for media and programming librarians and film aficionados.
The registration fee for this program is $5.00 for NCLA members or $20 for non-NCLA members, and the link to register for the program on the NCLA website is:  https://ncla.wildapricot.org/event-3962050
