  1. Looking to work with LILPA? Join a committee! The Long Island Library Pride Alliance is looking to start several long-term projects and services and to do this, we need your help. We recognize the workload that many of us have and believe that we can achieve these goals through collective work. Interested in any of the committees outlined below? Sign up to get more information!
      • Catalog Subject Heading Audit
        • This project is based on the work of the Brooklyn Public Library. We want to identify outdated or offensive subject headings and create a resource of updated terms. If you love a good spreadsheet, this committee is for you!
      • Book Club Cohort
        • We love having book clubs and would like to host at least 4 a year. If you are looking to get experience running book clubs or have strong opinions on what we should read- join us! This committee will facilitate book clubs with LILPA and will write book reviews to post on the LILPA website.
        • Save the Date! Our next book club meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 18th from 10-11am.
      • Queer Pen Pals Campaign
        • Thanks to the work of our founding members, we have an established community and source of information and resources for queer library workers and patrons. We want to share our community with those who need it, such as library workers in small rural library systems around the state and incarcerated individuals.
      • Connections & Community
        • Queer movie nights? Discord channels? Cat café outings? Film Critics Club? Join this committee to set up different social activities for the community!

Any questions, suggestions, or other requests can be made through our website.
