ASLD/NCLA’s Zoom Roundtable: Incorporating Tabletop-Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs)

The Academic & Special Libraries Division invites you to our early Winter Zoom Roundtable event on Friday, December 20th, at 10:00 am.

Take the initiative on the growing world of tabletop-roleplaying games by incorporating TTRPG, such as Dungeons & Dragons into Information Literacy and Library programming for student and patron engagement.

With the rapidly rising popularity of TTRPGs and games at-large, patrons of all ages and vocations are seeking groups and spaces to play. The collaborative and creative nature of TTRPGs allows both students and faculty alike to engage with each other in a fashion that is low stakes but highly enriching. We’ll discuss how to host game nights, tabletop role-playing game one-shots, and other interactive educational events in the academic library, highlighting the obstacles as well as the benefits and how to include library and information literacy modules in your daring campaign adventures that will have students returning to the library again and again.

  • Understand the use and implementation of TTRPGS
  • Understand the basics of TTRPG’s and how to effectively implement a TTRPG program in your library
  • Recognize the connection between TTRPG gameplay and information literacy as participants use library resources as tools for character creation, world-building, and storytelling
