 Title: A Discussion on Information Literacy: Effective Information Literacy Instruction that Supports Students’ Transition to College

LIU Post Librarian Selenay Aytac and her colleagues (Sarah Barlow-Ochshorn of Iona University Libraries; Holly Brown of Bard High School Early College Queens; Lauren Gavin of The New School; and Joanna Drusin of Brooklyn Technical High School) conducted a research study. In this discussion, she’ll share findings from their project, “Teaching Information Literacy: Strategies and Insights from High School and College Librarians,” which analyzed information literacy lesson plans and highlighted effective teaching strategies across both levels. This study aims to inform effective information literacy instruction that supports students’ transition to college.

 
Selenay Aytac is Professor of University Libraries at Long Island University, New York. She received a Senior Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research at the Bogazici University Telecommunication and Information Technologies Research Center in Istanbul. She was a library research fellow at the Princeton University Library for the AY 2019-2020.
